Commission for the Sustainability Institute, Stellenbosch, SA (2019).
Part of the Century City Arts Trail, near Intaka Island (2019). In our fast-paced world, this piece draws on the serenity at the water's edge to offer a quiet, reflective moment for the viewer. The mural depicts an intimately contemplative scene – the figure suspended within a vast universe, beyond space and time, held by a body of water. Their closed eyes and faint smile create a sense of surrender and peace as they submerge and emerge, seemingly at once, in an eternal moment of bliss. See Link
Go to linkCommission for BHC Design School, Muizenberg (2019). A colourful celebration of the diverse beings which inhabit the building itself. Painting portraits is common in my work, aiming to highlight our unique traits and stories as individuals but at the same time bringing us together in a celebration of our unique place within the larger community. I organised a day where I met and photographed over 40 students and staff, 8 of which appear in the mural. See link below for making-of video.
A collaborative mural at the Crags Primary School, as part of the Greenpop Festival of Action (2019). The mural was a group effort, facilitated by me. My personal touches included the concept, design and this seal, a photo by Steve Benjamin.
A collaborative mural at the George Botanical Gardens, as part of the Greenpop Festival of Action (2019). The mural was a group effort, facilitated by me. My personal touches included the concept, collaged design and this elephant in the centre.
A collaborative mural at the Buffalo Bay public ablution blocks, as part of the Greenpop Festival of Action (2019). Commission for Generator Hostel, Miami (2018). The concepts were adapted within a few days of arrival, after a visit to the Miami Botanical Garden. Here, I stumbled across different flora and insects, both native and non-native to Florida. In the end, much like the hostel itself, it was the foreigners we aimed to celebrate. See process video in link below:
